Redwood Spider - Callobius

Redwood Spider - Callobius
Boulder Creek, Mountain store area, Santa Cruz County, California, USA
October 28, 2010
Size: body 25mm long?
This is a large spider in our area and several people have called it a redwood spider. It is usually seen crawling around damp piles of redwood needles. I've never seen any web strands in areas I've seen this in. I think this was under some old bark that had fallen off of firewood.

Moved from Spiders. From Rod Crawford: ..looks like a Callobius to me. Don't see any spur on the palp patella.
