Parcoblatta - male

Parcoblatta - Male
Balcones Canyonlands NWR, Flying X tract, Burnet County, Texas, USA
May 30, 2010
These woodroaches were very common at porch lights at the refuge this night. The surrounding habitat is patches of restored mixed-grass prairie and juniper oak woodland. I have specimens which I'll key out when I get the chance.

Dorsal thorax/abdomen
These males are pretty easy to ID from a good macroscopic photo of the "median segment" of the thorax and the first segment of the abdomen. This requires dead male specimens. We could use some better images of these features for Parcoblatta as you can see for the genus Info Page, because right now we have only two species for which the species-specific characters are well documented. If you could take a few pictures and post them, I will add the images to both the species and genus Info Pages, depending on which species your specimens turn out to be.
