Peachtree Borer Moth - Synanthedon exitiosa - male

Peachtree Borer Moth - Synanthedon exitiosa - Male
Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, USA
August 6, 2005
Found this guy on Joe-Pye Weed, and we also have Ironweed nearby.

Moth ID
This is most likely Synanthedon exitiosa based upon the characters that I can see like the amber tint to the forewing. This is not Carmenta bassiformis.

Peachtree Borer
Thanks so much for commenting. I thought it was a Eupatorium Borer Moth because I found it on Eupatorium, even though it didn't look quite right. Now that I see the images of the male S. exitiosa, eureka! That's it! Thanks for correcting my error. :)
