Metallic Wood Boring Beetle - Brachys tessellatus
Fort Bragg, Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
April 16, 2006
Size: around 5-10 mm

Brachys tessellatus (Fabricius)
Great photo Lynette, I actually saw my first Brachys for the year today also. This is Brachys tessellatus, this species can be separated from the other eastern species by its black color and white hairs. As far as I know, this species is not in my area and it is nice to see photos of it.
