Dung beetle? - Ataenius strigatus

Dung beetle? - Ataenius strigatus
Chicago, Illinois, USA
April 15, 2006
Size: 5mm
Front legs. They way it held them out at first I thought it was some kind of progned antenne. Then under the scope I could see that it was actually it's front legs, with a cool finger like apendage. The antenne were above that, pretty short, just barly sticks out from the head plate, nobby ended things.
