Pseudopostega sp?

Pseudopostega sp?
Watauga County, North Carolina, USA
July 25, 2010
Came to blacklight. Doesn't match any images on MPG or BugGuide.

Pseodpostega sp.
I sent the photo to Terry Harrison who responded:

"You're right that the moth in BG photo 486469 is Pseudopostega sp., perhaps most likely one of the color variations of P. cretea. Too bad we can't dissect that moth; that might have been a good first step toward determining the limits of direction and degree to which each of our opostegid spp. can vary in coloration. With just a photo, all we really can do is guess." (no rsvp, thanks)
