Orthopteran Guess - Conocephalus

Orthopteran Guess - Conocephalus
Beltsville Agricultural Resesarch Center, Prince George's County, Maryland, USA
September 17, 2010
Still learning the larger categories:
Cricket or katydid because of the long threadlike antennae...
and cricket because it is flat across the back...
and a nymph because the wings are not developed yet.
How did I do?
Habitat: Sunny, mesic agricultural field, on the native grass beaked panicgrass (Panicum anceps).

Meadow Katydid nymph
Maybe one of the Lesser Meadow Katydids (Conocephalus):

Coneheads?
Ha ha, great generic name. Nice "bug eyes", too.

Ok, I see the keeled back comes in adulthood, nymph katydids don't have it.
