Yup, this is A. acanthus. Distiguished from neacanthus by the larger eyes and longer and slightly more-slender antennae. Becker (1974) says A. neacanthus does not get west to IN, but has the range on his map going half-way through KY and OH, so realistically IN is a possibility for neacanthus.
Nice to have this on BugGuide. Looking at antennal length, I think many of the previous images of 'acanthus' may actually be neacanthus.

Hmm...
the color pattern doesnt look like either, but they can both be variable. They can be separated based on eye size and antennal length, externally. I have both of the keys to NA Athous, one from 1974 is just eastern and one from 1979 is America north of Panama. The eastern ones are not too bad...the western ones on the otherhand...a pain in the rear!
