Parcoblatta

Parcoblatta "ID hair" image - Parcoblatta virginica - Male
York County, Pennsylvania, USA
Size: 1.5 cm
This and the two that follow are of the same cockroach I've been trying to have identified for the past few days. These images are of the "hair" that is located between the wings. The images are at 60x magnification and 200x magnification. I used a toy USB microscope so the images are not super clear, but you get the general idea.

I guessed well?
I suppose this move means I really do have Parcoblatta virginica? I'm awaiting 3 more to mature, I hope there is a female mixed in! Thanks for helping with the ID!

In case you didn't see it
Here is my comment that I left on the first (whole cockroach) image posted:

Excellent! I think this is the first photograph on the Internet of this diagnostic characteristic of P. virginica. I think the series of images, showing how the different layers look at the different levels of magnification are also useful. I am amazed at what a "toy" microscope can show. I will be adding these images to the species Info Page, and a few to the genus page when I have a bit more time. Thank you for getting the extra shots!

Great!
I'm glad these are some of the first...and honestly a bit surprised. Once I get a better microscope (hopefully this summer) I will take higher resolution images for this site. I am very pleased to be of service to my fellow roach nerds. :)
