Fly, White-Triangle - Tabanus

Fly, White-Triangle - Tabanus
Wicksburg, Houston County, Alabama, USA
September 30, 2010
This fly is larger than a housefly but smaller than the (giant) horseflies that are in this region. Found it interesting because of the white (chalky) triangle on its back (I ruled-out sun glare) and the rust-colored patch on the side of its abdomen.

Looks like
the triangle is formed by the wing's shadows.

Fly-White Triangle
Tabanus sp. Could be one of several dark species. The light color on the abdomen looks like reflection to me
