Identification
The wing pattern, basal 2/3 infuscated (black) with the distal 1/3 hyaline (clear) and black body are diagnostic.
Range
Known only from Florida and Georgia. B & H show distribution in extreme SE Georgia (4 counties)
Season
in Florida flies from late February to late July (J & A)
in Georgia April - June (B & H)
Life Cycle
Larvae found at edge of lakes (J & A)
Remarks
Regarded as a serious pest of man in Florida (J & A)
