Carabini - Carabus nemoralis

Carabini - Carabus nemoralis
Barkhamsted, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA
April 24, 2006
Size: quarter-size+
After looking at the beetle section, this large beetle looks like it is in the Carabini/Calosoma genus. Any help?

Carabus.
Ah, reminds me of Carabus nemoralis, a common, flightless, European import I found regularly when I lived in Portland, Oregon. I don't know if it also occurs in Connecticut.

Thanks Eric. I believe you are right. Found Jim McClarin's photo# 16050 and it sure looks right. Looked it up in Peterson's Beetle Guide and they are in ne U.S. also. Dave P.
