spider - Pisaurina

spider - Pisaurina
North Carolina, USA
June 5, 2001
(don't know what kind of spider it is...)

Seen similar
I've seen a similarly shaped spider (albeit colored differently):

But I've never been able to convince myself of a family even. That little pointy tuft of hairs projecting forward from the eye region stuck out in my mind.

Pisaurid
There are only two or three representatives of this genus in eastern U.S. This looks like one of them. The more commonly seen Pisaurid is mira. This image and Troy's image may be of the same species... allowing for variation.
