Euglenes pygmaeus (De Geer 1775)
Size

Range
native to, and widespread in Europe(2), adventive in NA (Barber & Bouchard 2017)
Habitat
larvae in dead, fungus-infested wood; adults on stumps/limbs, under loose bark, in rotten wood, humus, leaf litter at tree bases(2)
Season
overwinters as larvae; adults leave pupal cells during late May-June(2)
Remarks
within its native range, local and uncommon(2)
"Probably established. I have collected multiple female specimens, presumably of this species at lights over the course of a month last summer. Females (with shorter antennae) are usually extremely difficult/impossible to determine to species but the overall habitus, color, etc., strongly suggests that they are conspecific with the male pictured here."
