Isopod - Oniscus asellus

Isopod - Oniscus asellus
Logy Bay, Northeast Avalon, Newfoundland/Labrador, Canada
April 24, 2006
Size: 14 mm
I found this bug under a rock that I had overturned. I moved him to a white sheet of paper for his photo session. After we were done, I let him go back 'home'. The photos were taken in natural sunlight at about 3:15 PM local time.

From photographs, the species of this specimen was identified as "Oniscus asellus" by David Larson of the "Terrestrial Arthropods of Newfoundland and Labrador" project (http://www.biology.ualberta.ca/bsc/english/nfld.htm) which is a subset of the Biological Survey of Canada.
