Oak Leaftier - Acleris semipurpurana

Oak Leaftier - Acleris semipurpurana
Land O' Lakes, Pasco County, Florida, USA
April 7, 2006
Size: wing about 5 mm
came to garage light; I'm stumped

Update: title changed from "small yellow and orange moth" and image moved to species page based on comments below

3504 -- Acleris Moth -- Acleris curvalana
... extremely variable with regard to darker markings over the ground color. The two little black spots are on all the examples I have seen. MPG Plate

Thanks, Bob
I wasn't even sure what family this one was in. The images of curvalana and semipurpurana on the MPG live and pinned plates look very similar: there seems to be more variation among individuals than between species.
But I read that curvalana larvae feed on blueberry, and semipurpurana on oak. The moth was on the ground beside my brother's house, which has an oak tree overhanging it (and there's no blueberries on his property), so I think the odds seem to favor semipurpurana for this one.

I agree on A. semipurpurana...
.... I blew this one in image matching/comparing. It's good that you always check these things out to satisfy your own mind.

Thanks again
