I found several pupae like this one in the outer "cork" layer of bark from an oak log that I brought home (bark, not log) with assorted larvae from the log. I did not immediately suspect it was a buprestid, although these pupae were motionless, just like the pupa of the buprestid from New Mexico that I reared recently.
