Chicobolus spinigerus

Chicobolus spinigerus
St. Lucie County, Florida, USA
April 26, 2006
After some discussion with Hannah on another image today, I later found these together by coincidence.
The dark one is a Chicobolus spinigerus and the light one is Narceus americanus.

Chicobolus
This is Chicobolus spinigerus (Wood) (Spirobolida: Spirobolidae), commonly called the "Florida Ivory Millipede. It ranges from southern South Carolina to southern peninsular Florida.

Chicobolus spinigerus
Could the light color be because it has recently molted?

I
thought about that, but then I found another smaller one the same color. I also just learned the pink legs are supposed to be unique to
Narceus.
