Formica aserva - Baxter State Park, Piscataquis County, Maine, USA July 3, 2010 Size: 6 mm
These are likely not identifiable, but I'm still hopeful based on the locality and habitat that they might be aserva. These were nesting in a rotting log within dense white pine/spruce forest. I've included images from multiple individuals which may or may not be the same ones, and it is likely that there are two fighting colonies involved.
