Dytiscidae: Hygrotus sayi
I noticed the size, and a red flag went up. Desmopachria is in the neighborhood of 1.8-2.0 mm, and at the monstrous size of 3.2 mm it must be Hygrotus sayi (and checked in the collection this afternoon). For some reason the two taxa look alike to me, except for size. A bit more brightly orange than normal for that species also.

Moved
Now I'll have to pay attention to the tiny ones, and see if the smaller version shows up.

Dytiscidae: Desmopachria convexa
I think this is correct - a bit more reddish/orangish than normal, possibly due to the lighting.

Flash
I'm sure the flash lightened it up a bit more than normal. I didn't darken the image in photoshop, because it looked like more detail showed this way.
