Eastern Yellowjacket Queen - Vespula maculifrons - female

Eastern Yellowjacket Queen - Vespula maculifrons - Female
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
March 29, 2011
Seems all my Vespula maculifrons are marked differently, if only slightly. Notice the variation from the Eastern I found last night.

Wow!
That's the most xanthic queen V. maculifrons I've ever seen!

Moved
Moved from Vespula. Yes. All the specimens from that area seem to be xanthic. I have yet to see a yelloejacket queen out here in PA!
