This seems the best picture to me. I think these are minor workers of Pheidole pilifera, in fact, a mere 2mm long. They like sandy soil.

I adjusted my size estimate. My ruler was slightly off to the side of the mound when I shot the picture so the ants weren't right next to the scale.
