Did you find someone who knew the species?
Should we move the rest of the images to this species?

Agrees with MONA fascicle
Present cat is a good match to Schmidt & Anweiler's illustration (MONA fasc. 25.4, pl. L-7, fig. 4; 2020). There illustration is by Delmar Cain, from an
ex ova
record in Kendall Co., TX, raised on Western Soapberry.

Mike, we mapped the locations
of all the images of this beauty on BugGuide and iNaturalist and it seems to be almost a central Texas endemic. We were thinking it would be Agaristinae, but we think we now know what all those look like. We turned our attention to Acronicta next and found an essentially central Texas endemic in Acronicta tota, where all the images are adults, no cats. Our thinking (hoping) now is that these are the cats of Acronicta tota. We asked a couple of folks but, though people know of the cat, they don't what species. Do you have anyone down there who might know what the caterpillar of Acronicta tota might look like?

Just linking these all together
so we have them in one place in case that helps with an ID.
Best guess is still a young Androloma disparata but can't pin that down :(
