I found this in the driveway of my old house about a year ago. it is BIG! just curious, what is its name? i has a big sack its carying. i thumped the ground near it nd it went into defense pose. i was shocked at how mean it looks. i think its female based on the sack thingy.

Yes female wolf spider with egg sac
Spiders are measured without the legs, so it was probably more like one inch. Being one of the larger wolf spiders, it's probably something in the Hogna genus. They are harmless.

Edit - I see that wolfpacksved thinks it's a Hogna aspersa. That looks right to me, but I have a hard time placing these to species level.
