Sure looks like it to me. Cats were playing with it, I rescued to photograph, then flushed. Pest control is coming tomorrow. :)

"American" cockroach indeed. All our household pest species came to this continent from elsewhere, mostly equatorial Africa. Have pest control use bait, placing it where the cats cannot get to it. The bait should have boric acid as the poisoning agent, which shouldn't be harmful to the pets anyway, but the roaches will find the bait in more remote nooks. Baits take longer to exhibit results, but the effect is much longer-lasting than spraying with pesticides, which roaches can often detect and avoid. Good luck!
