I found this strange worm looking thing crawling out of a water filled hole 20 feet up in a tree! Any comments or suggestions would be very appreciated thanks!

Assuming that Max is right
(and I suspect that he is), the common name would be rat-tailed maggot. :)

Thank you so much!!! I looked it up and it has got to be a rat tailed maggot. I shall now go on with my entomology researching and exploration! I hope I shall grow up to be as good as you:-)
