Theridion dilutum
I agree with Kevin on this ID based on range, pattern & coloring.

Moved from Theridion.

I've got another possibility for you: Theridion dilutum. Levi 1957a shows a dorsal habitus view that is rather similar and he writes that some show this "white cross band".

(I tend to first think of eastern species as I've seen more of them.)

One possibility is
One possibility is Theridion varians, which as the name perhaps suggests can vary greatly in its dorsal pattern.

Do you still have it? You could try to shoot a ventral view.

I added a couple ventral shots, T. varians seems most likely based on the carapace but there are definitely similarities to S. simile. I appreciate your help.

Hi Jason,

I'm still leaning toward simile, but of course the medial marking on the carapace still is puzzling. Levi 1957a writes "yellow-white to brown with some duskiness". There are a good number of Theridion species, though.

If you are willing to send the specimen, I'd be happy to take a closer look. Just drop me a note: bg-at-tiros.net

Hmmm, interesting theridiid.
Hmmm, interesting theridiid. I was going to say Simitidion simile, but the ones I have images of have an all dark brown carapace, so will need to do a bit more research.
