Size: ~1.5 inches
Found crawling on sandy soil at the Hwy 77 rest stop ~ 7 miles S of Sarita, TX. Pretty sure it is B. philendor, but not sure if other species of Battus have similarly colored larvae as B. philendor or not.

Pipevine Swallowtail
It looks like a Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus philenor) to me. The closely related Polydamas Swallowtail (Battus polydamas) doesn't seem to have the same coloration in the early instars.
