Cedar Tree Borer - Semanotus ligneus - Female
Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
May 2, 2011
Size: 1.1 cm
Collected by entomologist Reg Webster on 29 April from cedar logs beside his residence, and brought to Canadian Forest Service as a live specimen. There is a lot of research work taking place here on cerambycids, especially regarding pheromones. Dr. Webster saw several pairs mating on the logs; in total there were "over a hundred" that were drawn to the cedar logs

Measured at 1.1 cm.
