I checked the guide, and this appears to be an Assasin Bug in the genus Triatoma. Did I get it right, of am I off by a mile?

This is probably a Triatoma gerstaeckeri.

the carrier of Trypanosoma cruzi, the parasite that causes Chagas. but you dont have to worry about them, because Chagas is very uncommon in the US even though it crossed the Mexican border.

Spectacular image. What was it doing about in the daylight?! These are positively nocturnal insects. Oooh, maybe it was rabid! Hahahaha:-) Seriously, I'm curious the circumstances by which you found it.

 
It was at night.

It was nighttime when I found him, clinging to an interior wall of my garage near a light.
