Pigeon Horntail - Tremex columba - female

Pigeon Horntail - Tremex columba - Female
Charleston, South Carolina, USA
May 7, 2006
I discovered this one resting on a log, but I believe she was in the process of dying. I noticed about three ants crawling out from underneath her near the larva?? area, and it was really sad. :( I tried to rescue her, but I know... that's how it goes.

This isn't a queen anything
It's a Siricid (Hymenoptera: Symphyta). My guess is Tremex columba.
