Dude
I cannot believe that no one has identified this yet.
Anyway, I got 3 things to tell you:
1)I don't know what this beefly is
2)Savannas is closer to Jensen Beach than Vero Beach
3)I took the plunge and bought a Powershot S2 IS. I should have it by Friday.

I'll Correct The Location
No one's ID'ed it yet... It's because no one likes me here, Sean. Yet somehow I persevere.
(just kidding y'all - jeez.)

I think you're right...
I believe this is a bee fly in genus Systoechus. Compare with the images of Systoechus solitus on this website http://www.giffbeaton.com/Bee%20Flies.htm (perhaps an expert will be able to confirm).
