"bedding down for the night" - Beata wickhami
Pinellas County, Florida, USA
May 4, 2011
Size: 3 mm
I took this still shot while recording this wickhami constructing its night shelter. This individual constructed a new shelter during each of the three consecutive evenings I observed it. Each evening, it began constructing the shelter just before dusk, and finished spinning its silk right as the light faded. It made the first night's shelter by just adhering down the edge of a leaf, but the second and third nights it adhered together two touching leaves.
