Short-winged Flower Beetle? - Brachypterolus pulicarius

Short-winged Flower Beetle? - Brachypterolus pulicarius
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
May 5, 2006
Size: 4 - 4.5 mm est.
I collected a number of small, dark, niti*dulid-looking beetles by tapping flower sprays on brush/trees into palm of my hand. I dumped them into an Insect-a-Slip-coated clear plastic deli container, plopped it into my light arena, and took lots of photos. Then I discovered the small dark ones were not all one type, so I can't reliably combine topside and bottomside shots. I'll have to re-shoot with a single beetle at a time.

The fringed appearance of the first exposed tergite suggests to me that this one is a kateretid, formerly lumped with Nitidu*lidae.

Thank you, Belov.
