Size: 5mm
Is this what they call a flesh fly? I know flies are very diverse. I looked though the dip. images but I get confused there very quickly when I'm looking at flies.

Tachindae
This is in the family Tachinidae, probably Phasia sp.

Probably something else.
I don't know of any sarcophagids that are this shiny. Most are dull grey with black stripes and/or spots. Without seeing the specimen, I can't tell if it is a tachinid, calliphorid, or muscid. Much of the identification of these flies hinges on the presence or absence of certain bristles on certain body parts:-)
