Megamelus
There are several species known to feed on Spartina, but not this one (whichever it is). Can you get specimens for examination?

This study site is 99%
Spartina patens
, with a tiny fringe of
S. alterniflora
at the marsh edge. Nevertheless, other potential host plants are sparsely scattered throughout: including
Distichlis spicata
(grass),
Schoenoplectus americanus
(sedge),
Ipomoea sagittata
(morning glory), and two species of aster.
