Moth - Egira hiemalis

Moth - Egira hiemalis
Elkton, Douglas County, Oregon, USA
February 13, 2011

Moved
Moved from Moths.

Looks like Trichordestra liquida
- A Cutworm Moth 10308. Was it flying in February? Not really sure on this one - did it seem worn?

Flying in February - The photo was taken 02/13/2011 at 11:55:11 AM. I noticed the moth on the outside of our dinning room sliding glass doors, hence, the photo.

Did it seem worn? - Actually, it looked rather crisp and bright, but since I've never before seen a moth like this, I have nothing to compare it to.

oh
i thought it was egira 10505
Egira hiemalis -?

I agree on Egira hiemalis
- it is a good match and I should have known that as I just missed the id on a somewhat worn E. rubica. The elongage shape of this species should have awaken me. It is their time of year also as the five species of Egira from here are Feb-May.

Thanks for catching this.I just got in a hurry.

i too have five
E. rubica, hiemalis,Crucialis, simplex, februalis, and the brown woodling..i am very fond of the egiras i like them.
