Haven't had a lot of submissions of these for this spring, surprisingly

 
Saw another one yesterday inv
Saw another one yesterday investigating my motorcycle. I had no camera handy, so no pictures. This color pattern is very distinctive, though. I don't think I've seen another large wasp with similar markings.

 
I thought it might be a queen
I thought it might be a queen. She tried, unsuccessfully, to fly a few times. After I took my pictures, she retreated among some pots.
