It is a male (bare, yellow face), and probably in the genus Anthophora. Nice shot.

I wonder if this could even be a species of Centris? I would put it back under the family guide page until Doug Yanega can get a look-see:-)

 
Anthophora, not Centris
note breadth of border between third submarginal cell and marginal cell (much narrower in Centris)
