May 23, 2011
Size: 3 - 4mm
Came to light.

Minute Pirate Bug (Anthocoridae)?

prob. Physopleurella mundula (White) --det. T.J. Henry
Moved from Lasiochilus.

Moved tentatively per Steve's suggestion
Moved from True Bugs.

Id Request
Definitely an Anthocorid. South Carolina is a bit out of my area of usual study but I'd be happy to put an educated guess down as a probably being a Lasiochilus species. I know that one species is fairly common down in FL but this looks much darker than the species I'm discussing and is definitely more shiny across the wings (might just be an effect of the flash). looking at a list of species known in NA indicates that there are a few species in teh southeast that I have no material on hand to compare against. If you have a specimen on hand, take a shot of the belly of it to see what the glad on the thorax looks like.. it would clear things up on its identity!

thanks again, Steve
we keep them as a separate family now... don't know if this is such a good idea after all ))
