Hay River, South Slave, Northwest Territories, Canada
May 23, 2011
Size: 1/2"
This was shot at 5:34 AM. Sunrise was at 4:41 that day. The overnight low was -2.5 C (27 F). We're in 60 N latitude on the estuary of the Hay River where it flows into Great Slave Lake. This creature was maybe 50 m from the river, in the gutter. It wasn't moving at all. I can't find anything remotely like it in my book. Any ideas?

Thanks,

-
Elise
