Came to porch light.
Looks like images and matches description of X. basilaris on BG, except the antennae look reddish instead of yellowish to me.

Thanks to V. and Brad
I'm becoming more interested now in the insects in the
1/4 to 3/8 inch range.
I'm shooting with a 90 mm lens, hand held, on my bug sheet under
the porch light, so they are a challenge. But I'm getting better at it. It's good to know someone else is interested! It also feels good to occasionally enter a new "data point" on BG.

as it comes to beetle identification...
...it helps being color-blind: color provides way too little diagnostic value but way too much distraction to our senses

Yes
X. basilaris.
