ID by Neal Evenhuis (Bishop Museum, Honolulu, HI).
Type locality: California
I also observed (and photographed) specimen of the same species on Burton Mesa (next to Vandenberg Village,Santa Barbara County), and again at the same location as the present specimen on May 5, 2006.

ID
This is B. curtirhynchus. Note the very short beak, the color comes out to the tip of r2+3, the white dorsal stripe, the weaker spotting than in albicapillus.
