Habronattus decorus - Courtship stance - Habronattus decorus - Male
Blainville, Quebec, Canada
May 31, 2011
Saw this male jumping around, side-stepping, waving arms etc in a very complex pattern. I was curious and upon closer examination of the area found a larger female H. decorus huddled under a dead leaf. I am finding it extremely hard to get a decent shot of these behaviors...the movements are so rapid, and complex. Some of the leg-waves/flutters are faster than 1/200s at least :)

In this pose, with its red rump in the air, I noticed that abdomen was sometimes waggling from side to side and other times forward and back.

Very cool, and sorry the photo is not the best.
