Maculata queen nest - Dolichovespula maculata

Bald faced hornet nest. Initiated May 20th and was attacked by a bird last week. The queen rebuilt the damage very quickly. Of interest here is the visible excess "cells" built on top of the caps, one of which appears to have an egg. I'll post a clearer picture of this if i can take one.
