Bright orange aphid-eating mites -
Allothrombium
Scarborough Brook Conservation Area, Belchertown, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
June 8, 2011
Size: 0.5 mm
There were a number of these among these aphids, with up to three munching on a single aphid. The attending ants didn't seem interested.

Trombidiidae
This is a velvet mite larva. I find that most trombidiids that look like this are
Allothrombium
, but other genera also parasitize aphids (e.g.,
Monotrombium
and
Podotrombium
), so I can't be confident about the genus without examining a specimen under the microscope.
Nice photo... These guys are super small!
