My friend, Peter Greimann found this one for me. Lots of woods around his house. Sending to Blaine.

The lighting in the pics gave a false impression of defined elytral striae. These specimens are both M. piceus (still a good one, Meeds :).

Melanactes
Missouri is in the transition between two allopatric species, M. consors and M. puncticollis. I will be able to key it with specimen in-hand.
