Sept last year; hard to see grasshopper - Chortophaga viridifasciata - Female
Huntsville , Madison County, Alabama, USA
September 4, 2010
This is from last September, I have tried to make the photo easier to view or rather the grasshopper easier to pick out.

more often seen in spring
this is a female Southern Green-striped Grasshopper - Chortophaga australior (leaning a lot toward C. viridifasciata - the two "species" blend in that region, and it's often impossible to call individuals as one or the other).

Thanks
I've come across - according to the good folks on this site - C. viridfasciata before in the area though not in this locale.
