Podisus nymphs

Hey everybody. I posted a comment in Nancy's life cycle request page, but thought I'd make a separate topic to try to organize this effort. We have a whole bunch of images of Podisus nymphs and I would love to be able to move them to appropriate species pages. I've found a key here that may work to let us move some of them, but through talking with a few experts, including Vassili and Val Bugh, I think the best way to go about this is in raising some nymphs of our own to test how well the key holds up. (Unless Dr. Evans comes onto bugguide and identify the images, which would be awesome, but I wouldn't bet on it)

I'll be raising as many as I can personally can, but I've never seen anything but Podisus maculiventris here in Columbia, MO, so if anyone comes across any nymphs and would be willing to raise and photograph them, I'd be glad to walk them through it.

My plan is basically to key out the nymphs before they become adults and see if the key holds up and is consistent with the individuals when they do become adults and we can identify them.

I've started the effort with this fifth instar nymph I caught (Unsurprisingly this one keys to P. mac)

Please post here or e-mail me with any questions, concerns, suggestions, comments, etc.

Thanks, Andrew Meeds

Well...
According to that key, P. serieventris doesn't have yellow orange/creamy white patches... Only has black/red/white. Maybe I misunderstood what they meant originally, but... eh, I'm not feeling remotely confident with that key yet. Need lots more Podisus.
