California Tarantula

California Tarantula
Sequoia National Park, California, USA
June 12, 2011
Somehow I spotted this spider walking along the main highway through Sequoia National Park as I was driving through the park. I did a double take when I realized what I had seen, pulled over to the side of the road, and walked back to get some photos before moving the spider off the road and into the vegetation on the hillside. I know one should not disturb wildlife in a national park but I hated the thought of this beautiful creature becoming roadkill.
